Peter Roskam Continues to Anger Constituents with Annoying Robo Calls

I’ve written about it before, but I’m seeing an increasing number of hits on this website from residents of the 6th Congressional District who are seeking to bring an end to the annoying onslaught of robo calls from their Congressman, Peter Roskam. Roskam, who is obviously concerned about his re-election chances this fall, is using the calls to promote his plan to exploit the current crisis in fuel prices as an opportunity to help the big oil companies that play a significant role in funding his campaigns. These calls, while pretty clearly designed to aid his campaign, appear to be originating from his Congressional office as they don’t bear any funding message. I can only presume they are being paid for by the taxpayers. I am not knowledgeable about the legal or ethical implications of the use of government resources for such a purpose.

I have been seeing a notable increase in hits from persons in the area using search strings like “stop peter roskam robo phone calls’, “stop peter roskam phone calls”, and “peter roskam phone calls at home”. I too have been the recipient of these phone calls, most recently just a couple of days ago, and I too find them objectionable. Sadly, this site has no solution to offer. I can only prevail on Representative Roskam once again to set up a registry to exclude those of us who do not wish to receive his automatic messaging. This seems only fair since we appear to be paying for them. I would be very happy to use this site to help him promote such an option, free of charge.

Robo calls are this election cycle phone spam.

Roskam’s district can do something and register their number for free at The National Political Do Not Contact Registry.

As I testified at the U.S. Senate this year, These calls are an epidemic and are invading the privacy of All American Voters.

Our members are taking a stand and saying enough is enough at the National Political Do Not Contact Registry at StopPoliticalCalls.org.

Here is a quote from a member this morning:

“I find it very frustrating… I tend to get calls at the WORST time. I have a one year old daughter, and it NEVER fails that the phone will ring when I put her down for a nap or for bed. Also my vote is PRIVATE… so who do you think you are calling with a survey to find out who I am voting for!!! Stop calling me.”

With regard to Roskam’s “robo-calls.” After I received several of the annoying calls, I called the number that ros-skam left at the end of his message and demanded that my name and number be deleted from their “call data base.” I also sent an e-mail to his Congressional office and made the same demand. It has been several weeks since I took this action and I have not received another of his whining calls. People should not have to suffer the arrogance of Republican political hacks. We do have recourse.

I personally like the robo calls. It gives me a direct feedback channel to Congressman Roskam and additionally, I feel the Congressman has done an excellent job representing my views and has consistently voted like I requested in my emails and phone calls to the Congressman’s office.

I am absolutely sick of this guys constant phone calls to my cell phone. He burns up my precious minutes, and I am listed on the DO NOT CALL LIST.
Once,I even called the number that he listed and requested that he remove my number from his list. The calls keep continuing.I am going to vote on Tuesday, primarily to vote AGAINST him. There should be some sort of class action lawsuit against a politician who constantly harasses citizens. He might actually be a good politician, but these phone calls are ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
